So before I knew how to make green smoothies, I started experimenting with regular smoothies for breakfast. I had some tofu to get rid of, so I added it to the smoothies as well. Golden flax seeds, apple juice, avocados, frozen fruit... Before I knew it, I was slicing and freezing bananas, and making apple juice ice cubes. There's nothing better than a big, heavy smoothie in the morning. A very dense one can be sipped slowly and will last all morning long, through brunch, and you won't feel hungry till late lunchtime. Here are a few really good looking ones:

Cherries & Berries Smoothie. frozen fruit, apple juice ice cubes, soymilk, golden flax seeds.

Mango-Avocado smoothie with almond milk and golden flax seeds

Avocado Blueberry Smoothie. Besides the Avocado and Blueberries, there's apple juice ice cubes, apple juice, almond milk, & golden flax seeds.

Mango Avocado Strawberry. Added apple juice, almond milk, and hempseed oil.

Raspberry Watermelon smoothie. Not as good as it looks, but it's hella pink! There's only raspberries and watermelon in this. I'm sure adding cucumber would make it even better.

I just put these together myself. They're neither difficult nor special, but perhaps they'll be good ideas for someone else?

Now that I make only green smoothies, do you know what I do differently? ...I make the same kind of fruit smoothies, but add a HUGE handful of greens (kale, spinach, etc), and a handful of fresh slices of cucumber. Make sure to mix up those greens! It's called Rotating your Greens. The link is to Victoria Boutenko's amazing green smoothie page & an article that explains why we MUST rotate greens in smoothies. She's the Mother of Green Smoothies, so please use her page as a guide. :)

Hi! I'm a Vegan. (yaaay) I've been Vegan for 4 1/2 years. So I don't eat animal products at all! This is good. I love to cook. Oh yes, I love cooking. I love tasting great food, and really get a kick out of people enjoying the good I make. Lately I have been turning to raw foods. My body told me "do a detox!" I'd never done a detox before, but for some reason I felt this driving need to do one. I did the 3-day apple detox (consume only apples, apple juice, & water for 3 days). When I ended that 3-day period, I craved... fruit. And greens. Everything as raw as possible. So I took a serious look at what becoming Raw would entail... And determined that a High Raw diet is probably ideal. High Raw is a simple way of saying "high percentage" of raw.

Of course, I'm still cooking. I make plenty of cooked foods, and will post a lot of them. I'm actually going to go back and show some of the foods I've made over the past, oh I dunno, 6 months or so since I've started taking pictures of the stuff I've put together. I'm not really going to add a lot of recipes, but if a recipe did come from somewhere else, I will link it or tell you which book it came from.

Anyway, please enjoy these photos on my veg food journal!

Spring Rolls

This is actually from way back in March! I'm a die-hard avocado fan, and man is this tasty.

Ingredients for Spring Rolls:
cabbage
carrot
cucumber
green onion
avocado
rice spring roll wrappers (find these at an asian store, cheap! Don't use the wheat&egg "Nasoya" brand commonly found at groceries. These rice ones are totally dried out & need only a dab of water to reconstitute 'em)

Ingredients for Dip:
Get a Sweet Chili Sauce. I mixed together Sweet&Sour and Hoisin because that's what I had, and it was great.

To make:
1) Dice veggies. Cut avocado into strips, like you'd see on top of veggie sushi
2) Reconstitute a single rice spring roll wrapper in water
3) Lay out avocado strips first on wrapper, then add the other veggies in a row near the bottom.
4) Fold the spring roll wrapper like this: bottom up over the veggies, fold in the two sides, and roll up to the top. For better instructions, go HERE.

After that, you're done! Dip and eat. Enjoy! :)
